Sex: The male has a more pointed and narrow dorsal fin than the female. The male also has a broader anal fin.
Feeding: They will eat all types of foods.
Social Behaviour: A peaceful shoaling fish. Does best when kept in large groups. Best kept in groups of 6 or more.


Up Keep: Very hardy and easy to keep. They prefer some tall plants and an open swimming space.
Breeding: Very easy to breed and will spawn among the tall plants. Parents will eat the eggs if they are not removed.
Comments: Very hardy, peaceful and popular fish. Good choice for the first time aquarist. They make an excellent addition to any community aquarium. There is also a "white" variety. Frequently died as "blueberry," "strawberry," and "rainbow" tetra.
