Sex: Male has the distinctive anal fin, the gonopodium, and a sword like extension on the lower part of its tail.
Feeding: Likes flakes and freeze-dried foods.
Social Behaviour: Peaceful, a good community fish. Females will eat the fry. Males may have little fights with each other.

Up Keep: Prefers plenty of plants and some open areas for swimming.
Breeding: Males will spawn with little effort. Female can have up to 80 fry which she will try to eat unless they are separated from her using a breeding box.
Comments: Another good hardy fish. Great for starting a first aquarium. Keep only one male and several females as males will have little fights with each other.
