German Blue Ram Cichlid

German Blue Ram Cichlid
Microgeophagus Ramirezi

Length: 3.0"
Sex: Males feature a longer extended dorsal fin and are larger than females. Females have a lot more pink color in their belly.
Feeding: German Blue Rams will accept a wide range of commercial flakes and live foods.
Social Behaviour: Does well with most types of fish but can be shy.

Up Keep: Minimum tank size is 20 gallons. Aquarium water should be warm (78-85°F) and slightly acidic (pH5). Provide an open swimming area and plenty of plants and rocks or caves for hiding places.
Breeding: When spawning the female will lay her adhesive eggs on a flat surface and both parents will defend the eggs. The eggs will hatch after about 40 hours and both parents will protect the fry.
Comments: Does well with most types of fish. Needs some caves to establish it's territory. If other rams are in the tank, they need more space, and more hiding places. Can be shy so the use of dither fish is recommended.
