Sex: Male has a more rounded body with a longer, pointed dorsal fin.
Feeding: Will accept flakes and small live foods.
Social Behaviour: Very quiet and peaceful schooling fish.


Up Keep: Tank should have plenty of plants and some open areas. Regular water changes are needed.
Breeding: Possible if breeding pair is placed in a separate, dark tank with soft water. Temperature between 79 and 82 F. Remove the parents after spawning since they will eat the eggs.
Comments: Black Emperor Tetras are a popular color variant of the Emperor Tetra. They are very peaceful and quiet, do not keep them with more active tank mates.
